SENDING BUTTERFLY WISHES YOUR WAY

THE BEFORE AND AFTER SHOT!
Can you believe the difference?  Same photo taken on same camera!

If you read my post, I think it was two days ago, I mentioned about using left over card stock by making flowers, frames, borders etc rather than just storing it in a container/drawer.  So doing a quick tidy in one are of my studio I came across the above card base and decided to make something with it!

What I find strange is that when photographed the background looks a pale and delicate pink, it is actually white!  The card looks a muted beige when in fact it is the delicate pale pink showing behind the card as well as the top left of the card!  OK... enough about the colours LOL.

• This is a 5.5" square card with thin mats of copper, white and pink foundation card by Creative Expressions.  I covered another piece of white card with double sided adhesive sheet , removed the backing and covered it with gorgeous Gilding Flakes/Mulled Wine by Creative Expressions, and I apologise as, again, the true colours are not showing up well at all!
• I die cut this piece using only the inner die of the Finishing Touches - Cascading Butterflies Die Set by Sue Wilson/Creative Expressions then, using both dies, die cut it again on white card, to give me the white 'frame' to adhere around the butterflies
• I used a stamp that was a free gift from a card crafting magazine for the sentiment.  I stamped and embossed it onto white card and used WOW Metallic Gold Sparkle Embossing Powder
• I backed this onto a thin mat of the copper card and added a small heart to the bottom left of the sentiment
• I used the smallest butterfly from the die cuts, sprayed it with adhesive and covered it with Glitter Jewels Diamond Snow by Creative Expressions. I added two flat back pearls by Creative Expressions to its spine and adhered this to the top left of my card
• To complete I added more of the same flat back pearls

THURSDAY TUTORIAL

This is the card for today's tutorial

On a piece of black card I rubbed an anti-static bag over it then stamped the flower stamp, 'Arianna Blooms Stamp' by Heartfelt Creations , twice, using a clear embossing ink pad, followed by sprinkling 'Cosmic Shimmer Detail Embossing Powder True White' by Creative Expressions, over the flowers and heat setting them

I am fortunate to have two sets of this particular die set, which helps save time when I am making several flowers for a card

Once heat set I die cut and embossed the flowers using my Platinum machine

I placed the die cut flowers onto a paper towel and spritz water over them

scrumpled each flower and dried them with my heat tool.  Normally I would set them aside to dry naturally

Next I used a Japanese 'hole punch' and punched a hole in the centre of each flower

I carefully opened each flower, applied clear glue around the centres and added the individual flower layers.

Whilst the glue dried I used stick pins to hold them together  as shown above.

When dried I gathered several white stamens and glued them into the centres of the 3 flowers

Using one of my old Spellbinders A4 embossing folder I embossed the white base card.  I've had this folder for years and one time it became wedged in my very first Grand Calibur machine, it was totally my fault as I used the wrong sandwich combination LOL!  My husband eventually managed to  release it but you can see the damaged top part, that is not a problem as I can still use it, the pattern is a favourite of mine

The above is the embossed base card.

For the next step I used the second largest oval die to cut a piece of black card

I will make more flowers with the leftover black card (below, centre) and with the oval frame that was left over I will keep for another card.

I did stamp the 'Birthday wishes' sentiment onto the bottom of the leftover black card and using another Spellbinders die set cut and embossed it

With another piece of white foundation card I die cut it using the third largest oval die then embossed it using the 'Falling Snow' Embossing Folder by Sue Wilson ~ Creative Expressions 

I then adhered the white and black ovals onto each other then onto the card base.  The flowers were then added and I attached black mounting foam to the sentiment and adhered it to the card.

The finished card is 6"x8"

SUMMER

Hi, thanks for stopping by...

Two days of sunshine here and it inspired me to use a new stamp by Clarity as well a few Pixie Powders to add the lovely burst of colour.  It is such a shame that the mica, in the Pixie Powders, don't show very well when photographed!

I am really enjoying using 5"x7" cards of late, as opposed to, for example, an 8" square and an A5!

This card is a white 5"x7" base. 

• I used water colour card and sprayed water to one small area then sprinkled Peacock Green PP to it, I dabbed the excess with a paper towel and dried that area with my heat tool
• I did the same with the other two Pixie Powders and that gave me my burst of colour
• The word Summer was stamped in black
• I used a corner punch to all four sides then, with a grey Spectrum noir pen, coloured the edges
•  Next, using foundation card, I created layers of custard, pink and green to tie in with the pixie colours and adhered this, to the base card, at a jaunty angle
• I did the same with the water colour card, as shown above
• Using the camellia open and closed petals die set I cut and embossed several flowers from the custard and white card.  These were then shaped and glued together before adding them to the card
• I already had a spray of leaves cut and embossed, an extra bonus was that I had previously glittered them LOL, I snipped off individual parts and attached them around the flowers
• To complete I added 2 butterflies, already cut and embossed from a previous card project and added pearls to the spines of each butterfly then, to complete, added flat back pearls in two lots of threes

HELPFUL TIP ~ when you are cutting and embossing elements for a card and have left over card, instead of putting it away for 'another time' I encourage you to make flowers, butterflies, tags, or whatever, depending on the products you have of course.  You can then 'store' these in individual containers and name them with whatever it is you have made.  This will save you a lot of time when making future cards

BEAUTY IS TRUTH, TRUTH IS.......

This is a 5"x7" black card base and I used a corner punch top and bottom of the card.

The flower stamp is quite an old one of mine and I think it's by Heartfelt Creations.  I stamped the image onto white card stock with a slate grey ink pad.

I wanted to add just a little bit of colour and bleached the tallest flower to enable me to colour it.  I used a pink and red ProMarker for this.  The middle flower I coloured a very dark brown  then added a clear glaze to both flower heads and also directly onto the flower head lower down.  One stalk was coloured using a green ProMarker.

I backed this onto gold card and left narrow side boarders only.

I then used a perfect medium to stamp the sentiment, covered it with bright white detailed embossing powder and heat set it.  Even though I used an anti-static bag prior to embossing little dots of powder remained on the card which prompted me to add a few silver sequins over them!

The 'Tuesday Tutorial' has now moved to a permanent Thursday slot

I have used a new stencil to create part of the focal point on my card and dusted the flower heads with a distress ink pad.  I then used a different distress ink for the background and applied 'splatters' of clear water to lift some of the colour.

The sentiment, which I call a filigree font, was stamped using 'Rich Cocoa' ink pad.  The wording is a little difficult to read, hence my take on 'filigree' and I have typed the words in full on the title post.

The stencil is an ideal size should you want to cover the front of an A5 card, and it gives you a lovely border, that I think that is a bonus!

Good morning!

Today's card is a 7" square.  From the Lemon Craft Paper Pad I chose the pretty blue paper and matted that onto a thin black card.
Using a few of the dies from the Frames And Tags range I die cut the Jessica die in a bright blue card then matted it onto ivory card to match the ivory base.

I die cut the Daisy Cluster using one blue and 2 ivory pieces of cards, and adhered them together to give both dimension and a shadow effect then glued them to the sides of the main card.  I then added mounting foam to the main focal point and added that also to the centre of the card.

The three flowers were die cut in the same blue card stock, using the two smallest dies from the Perfect Peony Complete Petals range, I then added an ivory pearl to the centres and used my 'Wink Of Stella' Clear Glitter Pen to brush across the top petals.  I also die cut the three sets of leaves from the same set.

On ivory card I stamped the sentiment and added it to the centre of the main focal point

The second 'blast from the past' card!

I used ivory card and a pretty printed green paper for the backing.  Die cut the main focal point in ivory card and added some die cut flowers, flourishes and one butterfly.

A white satin bow was also adhered at a 'jaunty' angle

PRETTY IN PINK

Over the next few days I will be posting cards that I made a little while ago (pre Blog) and this is the first!  I would class this as a CAS card (clean and simple).

The size is an A5 and I added thin mats of pink and white card.  The final layer being white and I placed, in my opinion, a very pretty and lace effect oval die onto the card, die cut and embossed it.  A wider piece of pink card was added towards the bottom on the card then I used both sets of bow dies, the plain one in pink, the patterned one in white that was then adhered to the pink layers and glued onto the border.

The finishing touches were: a gem to the centre of the bow, pearls around the oval shape, a few more pearls added around the card as shown above and one butterfly

I love the scene this pretty paper portrays and it is the paper that makes this card!

I used an 8" square white card base and from one of my 12" paper pads I chose the above paper, trimmed it so I could mat it to a thin black mat and glued it to the card base.  I put it to one side and kept going back to it thinking should I add one flower are more..... rightly or wrongly you can see the decision I came too!

 

I used two sets of dies, both by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions and added a pinkish red gem to the string flowers and a pearl gem to the poppy flowers.  I die cut the spring foliage in white card and used Diamond Snow to give them a touch of sparkle

I used my Wink Of Stella pen to add a touch of sparkle to the fence posts and stamped 'Memories' with Distress Ink 'Black Soot'

GIVE A GIRL THE RIGHT SHOES

A quick and easy make for this card..... once I knew what I was going to do! LOL

Once again I halved an A4 white card to give an A5.  I continued to add thin mats of  white and red card. The final white card was embossed using the 'Falling Snow EF' by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions (currently one of my favourites at the moment) and I rounded the bottom corners only using a large corner punch by Woodware.

I stamped the 'Glamour Shoes' Stamp Set by Woodware onto white card, coloured them using ProMarkers in red and black but for the insoles and soles I used one of the new Chameleon Pens in Bisque.  I then went over the shoes using a 'Wink Of Stella Glitter Pen'.

The 'Give A Girl'..... is part of the Glamour Shoe Set, I stamped this onto white card and die cut it using a Spellbinders's Die from my stash.

On white card I typed the 'How Old' and 'Birthday Wishes Best Friend'.  The latter was die cut and matted onto a larger oval red card.

I used a tag die to die cut the 'How Old'? covered it with a piece of double sided adhesive sheet, removed the backing and sprinkled 'Diamond Snow' by Creative Expressions

BLAST FROM THE PAST

This is a quick post today as this is a card I made sometime ago and I don't have all the details available. 

It is an A5 size white card base with mats of lilac and white card.  The top part of the card I die cut using a striplet die and left a small boarder so I could attach mounting foam to it then adhered it to the card.  I added small flat back pearls to the centres of the design. 

The beautiful design on the bottom part of the card is also die cut and I added a little bit of sparkle to the centre part.

I stamped a sentiment onto white card and die cut it using an oval die then matted it onto a slightly larger oval of lilac card.

A few diamond gems strategically placed finished the card

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

A second 'shabby chic' today but this card definitely is one that looks better in the flesh than on the picture!

I matted the pretty purple paper onto an 8" white card blank and distressed part of the edges as well as curling over one corner. 

I then added the white lace and a pearl corner embellishment.  I die cut the flowers, 5 white, 2 purple and glued them in position.  I also added several strands of pearls and dotted others around the focal point.

I stamped 'Happy Anniversary' onto white card, used a tag punch to cut it, covered it with a double sided adhesive, removed the backing sheet then sprinkled it with glitter jewels

I really like how this cute CAS card turned out!

Brilliant White Foundation Card by Creative Expressions, Flower Stamp by Clarity, Sentiment Stamp by Altenew,  Victorian Velvet and Mustard See Distress Inks by Ranger and a few flat back pearls, edger die, also by

 Creative Expressions.

The finished card is 4"x5"..... cute would you agree?

I used the largest die from Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics B to die cut a top folding base card.  Using the next size down I die cut another piece of the brilliant white card. This was then die cut using one of the edger dies by Spellbinders, I no longer have the packing so I'm sorry I am unable to give you the name of it this time.

I then drew a fine pencil mark to where the top and bottom die cuts ended on the card.  Easy lift off tape was applied to the right and left side of the card as I wanted a white border showing.

I inked my blending tool with the 'barn door' ink pad and coloured the section of the  base card leaving space for the second colour, 'mustard seed'.  A clean blending tool was again used for this.

I then inked the second stamp with Stazon in Jet Black and stamped it onto the base card, as shown.

Mounting foam was applied to both pieces of card and adhered to the base card.

And that is it, clean and simple

THANKS FOR BEING THERE FOR ME

I cut a piece of brilliant white foundation card by Creative Expressions to create a 5" square and leaving a small boarder.  Using the Petite Striplet Die - Jubilee (without the outer cutting die) by Sue Wilson for CE, I die cut 3 strips.  I then attached a piece of double sided adhesive to the back of this and using Cosmic Shimmer Polished Silk Glitter in Golden Sand, Silver Chrome and Rose Copper I sprinkled one of each colour over the strips, burnishing in with each application.  I can not emphasise enough how beautiful this glitter is!  It is very fine and does not 'fall off' the card.  The colours are so beautiful.  I adhered this to a mat of silver, black and white foundation card and added mounting foam to the back for dimension and then positioned it to the final mat of white, silver, black and white card.

I stamped the sentiment using one of the stamps from the Live, Laugh, Love Sentiment Range by CE onto white card, I then attached another piece of double sided adhesive  sheet onto the sentiment, removed the backing and sprinkled Cosmic Shimmer Diamond Snow over it.  This was then placed into position on the card and to finish I add butterflies, 2 small and 1 medium that I also sprinkled Diamond Snow onto them as well as adding small, flat backed pearls to the spine of each butterfly, using Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear PVA Glue.
