ENGRAVING ART ~ A NEW TECHNIQUE!

Hello and welcome...
As the title states, this is a new technique for me and I can not remember ever doing anything like this when I went to school, which is a very long time ago!
I have had the Engraving Art Boards for several years, in fact, since we opened our craft shop some 5 years ago.  The new owners didn't want to keep the card craft side of the business so all the remaining stock came 'home' with us... nightmare to say the least!  So for all these years I've occasionally looked at these boards and put them back lol.  It was seeing a gorgeous card by John Lockwood and another gorgeous one by  Mrs Duck, of 'The Ducks Doodahs' (Tales from a happy crafter) that prompted me to give it a try... ta dah!  I chose the copper foil, and what some of you may not know is that I can't bear to get 'clarted up', to use a very professional Geordie expression ;)   and what Mr F aka my hubby,  did not tell me was how black my hands would be, absolute torture for me but I carried on, as you do, and finished the 'rubbing'.  So, I have to say again, a simple card to make, not a quick card, unless you don't mind being 'clarted up', but quite effective.  I embossed the  art board then slowly rubbed over the top of the design, very gently, with a sanding block.  Once completed I cut the board to sit across the ivory card base and adhered it to the card.  I picked 3 sentiments from the Be Happy And Smile stamp set and stamped one at the top left of the card, the other to the bottom right and the third for the verse, as shown below.  I apologise for cutting off the top of the card and obliterating the  sentiment but you can now see it now below

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!!

Hello and welcome...
As the title states 'and now for something completely different' and it is!
I've been wanting to try the new Spectrum noir Metallic Pencils for a little while and today managed this 'offering'.  The Spectrum noir Colorista Dark Pencil Pad has 16, pre-embossed designs and the metallic pencils come in a 12 piece, these are so soft and creamy and a pleasure to use.  I do think a little more practise is needed though!  When you move the card from side to side the colours have a gorgeous shine to them and I will try to make a short video to let you see what I mean!
Once you've coloured your images it's your choice how to display them.  I've chosen an 8" square white base card and added mats of white then black onto it.  I also scored the white base card with horizontal and vertical lines as I didn't want to add a sentiment

CRAFTY CARDMAKERS CHALLENGE #191 HERE COMES SUMMER

Hello and welcome...
A new challenge starts today at Crafty Cardmakers and I am the host!
The challenge is about summer and, as usual, anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it follows our 'Here Comes Summer' theme and this is my contribution:
I started with a piece of brilliant white card, 8"x6.75" and coloured a quarter approx of the card in Distress Ink 'Spiced Marmalade' then the remainder of the card in Distress Ink 'Barn Door'.  I die cut and embossed the palm trees, 2 birds and hammock in black card and adhered them to the card.  The 'hola' sentiment was die cut and embossed in brilliant white card, I die cut the letters 3 times and glued them together to add dimension then adhered to the card.  Using gold mirri card I die cut and embossed a pair of flip flops and added these to the card.  I added this onto a mat of black card then onto the white base card.  To complete I, again, die cut the cocktail glass, coloured it in then added Glossy Accents to the glass to give the appearance that it was 'glass' lol.  I adhered it above the 'a' on the sentiment.  A nice tranquil and tropical summer design.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

Hello and welcome...
A cute card made for our grandson to give to his dad for Father's Day
I started with a white 5"x7" card base and stamped then heat embossed the Owls, by Woodware, using WOW Embossing Powder in Metallic Copper.  I then masked the image and using Mowed Lawn Distress Ink, coloured the lower part of the card.  I used Stormy Sky Distress Ink to cover the top part of the card.  Keeping the masks on the owls I then spritzed water over the card, removed the masks and used a selection of water pencils to colour the owls (these are some of my 'old' stock' pencils and the name of the colours has long disappeared!)  The sentiment at the bottom of the card is part of the Woodware Owl Stamp Set, I stamped it using StazOn in Jet Black.  I typed the top sentiment, printed it on thin white card and matted it onto black card adding mounting foam to the back for dimension.  I used a Micron Pen in black to create the jaggered border and to complete a personal verse was inserted

The deadline for yesterday's card give-away is 9.30am tomorrow and the winner will be announced at 10am

It's the start of a new challenge at Crafty Cardmakers also tomorrow and I am hosting this one so my card won't be published on  my blog until 1pm tomorrow.  I hope to see you then

Would just like to say "welcome" to my new followers, so pleased you found me and a special welcome to Mrs Duck, whose humour on her blog, always makes me smile, plus, she's got the best wisteria that I've ever seen and torments Mr F regularly with photographs of it lol.  Take a visit to her blog at the ducks dodahs (tales from a happy crafter) you won't be disappointed
